Year 4 demonstrated their learning about Ancient Egypt in a word perfect assembly.
Trip to the London Transport Museum
The Reception class had a wonderful day at the London Transport Museum.
We were guided round Queen Victoria's childhood home and encouraged to imagine the life of the girl who would become Queen: her family, toys, pets, routines. We used artefacts, acting and debate to help us consider what it would have been like to be the princess and whether we thought her treatment was fair.
Year 6 have been planting tulip bulbs and are looking forward to seeing them grow in 2020
Year 1 trip to Kensington Palace
We had a brilliant workshop learning all about Queen Victoria’s childhood. We saw her impressive doll house and mind-blowing opera puppet show.
Year 5 trip to Hampton Court Palace
Year 5 saw the remains of Elizabeth 1's dress and explored the Tudor kitchens and the Great Hall.
Trip to Wimbledon Common
We enjoyed listening to our book of the term "Stanley's Stick" before making sketches of trees and collecting our own sticks to take back to school. The children noticed fungi growing wild and we also were lucky to encounter a heron fishing on the pond. We were really glad of the sunshine on this wonderful autumn day and made sure we took the time on the way back to school to feed the ducks.
Years 3-4 Wandsworth Girls Football Festival
The Year 3 and Year 4 girls had a great afternoon meeting girls from other schools and playing fun games.
Year 2 went microhabitat exploring around school and found different minibeasts.
Visit from a Wimbledon Umpire
A Wimbledon Tennis Umpire visited Year 3 before going to work at the Championships!
What a great experience it was for Year 4 to go to Wimbledon Theatre, to hear Cressida Cowell talk about her inspiration for writing the How to Train Your Dragon series of books. Each child was given a copy of her new book.
Year 4 went to a reading of The 104 Storey Treehouse at Wimbledon Bookfest
Children from Years 5 and 6 had a wonderful time in the Sussex countryside on their weekend residential
Year 3 sports day at King's College
We came 3rd overall and won quite a few of the other categories: fancy dress, agility and the whole school race.
Collaborative transition art project with Greenmead
Year 6 pupils from both schools took part in a weekly club to create a piece of artwork inspired by the Jean-Michel Basquiat.
NFU Farm for a Day
The school was transformed into a farm for a day thanks to the NFU and Afeefa in Year 3, the Farmvention winner

Polka 40 - Years 3 and 4
Year 3 and 4 were visited by Polka 40, a theatre group, and learnt about how to channel their imagination to help them improvise a short story.
Trip around the local area
We had a brilliant time whilst on our tour of the local area with Malcolm Grimston. We learnt a lot about the history of West Hill Ward and have a renewed interest for the place we call home.
Trip to Sutton Ecology Centre
Year 3 went on a trip to Sutton Ecology Centre to learn all about how to use maps and recognise the 8 points on a compass.
Nursery tea party
The Nursery class have been learning about the Queen and had a tea party before half term
Reception as part of their Cool Britannia topic have been inspired by the book 'Naughty Bus' . The children made their own Naughty buses, taken them on an adventure in the playground, and have been on a trip to the bus garage where they had a go at driving a real bus and met a real life bus driver!
Year 2 visit to the mosque
'Year 2 visited The London mosque on Monday to learn about why it is a special place for many people. The Imam explained the importance of the mosque, when it was built and even gave us all a generous treat when we left.
Year 3 visit to the Museum of London
Year 3 went on a trip to the Museum of London to learn all about the Stone Age and get a hands on experience!
Year 3 Topic Launch
Year 3 and their parents got really hands on in their topic launch this term, looking at the local area and healthy eating.
Winter Concert 2018
Our Winter Music concert was a great success with all children from Years 1-6 taking part.

Year 5 trip to the Natural History Museum
Year 5 visited the 'Into the Dark' exhibition which focused on how animals adapt to their environment.
Reception Autumn Walk on Wimbledon Common
The Reception class went for an Autumn walk on Wimbledon Common, finding signs of the changing seasons.
Anglo Saxon houses
Year 5 have been making Anglo Saxon houses inspired by their recent trip to Butser Ancient Farm.
Year 3 tennis at Wimbledon
Year 3 have been really enjoying their trips to Wimbledon for tennis lessons every week. We were even lucky enough to be taken on a tour around Wimbledon, including centre court, by the head coach!
Year 1 trip to the Transport Museum
Year 1 children took part in the ‘build a bus’ workshop, getting hands on with special objects from the museum collection and investigated how London’s buses are made and why they have changed over time. They also built their own buses for London’s future.
Year 6 class assembly
Year 6 explored events leading up to the start of World War One, life in the trenches and the role of women in the war.
Cooking in parent time
One of our mothers cooked an amazing chicken and cous cous dish from her native Algeria.
Macmillan coffee morning
We had a coffee morning and sold these amazing cakes to raise money for Macmillan. Thank you to all our bakers and tasters!
Year 2 : Harvest and soup making
Year 2 have been looking at harvests and making soup with vegetables harvested from our rooftop garden.
Year 2 September 2018
Year 2 have had a very exciting start to their year! They were sent to investigate the strange movements on the school roof garden and found a crashed spaceship. They discovered it belonged to Beegu and have started work on their mission to get him home. In numeracy we have been exploring the place value of digits in a 2-digit number. In science we went on a hunt around school to find things which are living, once living and non-living. We found slugs, worms, dead leaves and plastic.
Year 2 went on a forest school trip to Kingston University. We listened to stories set in the forest and we completed team building activities such as den building.
Children in Year 2 sold their Pet Rocks at the summer fair, having won Dragons' Den in Enterprise Week with their idea. They raised £75!
Rooftop garden Summer 2018
The children planted sunflowers, tomatoes, potatoes, onions and beans to name a few - they are almost ready to harvest.
Maths Week winners' assembly
The teams the Dragons judged to be the best business plans were announced.
Children from Years 1-6 pitched their business ideas to 4 Dragons, who were very impressed with both their original plans and their financial acumen.

Year 2 visited Waterstones in Putney to listen to a story and choose and buy new books for our new library.

Winter Music Concert 2017
Our music concert was one of our best ever, and very well attended by families of our children.
ESOL Christmas Party
Our ESOL group celebrated the end of term with an international feast - including food from Pakistan, Japan and Ethiopia.
School Council planting outside local development
Some members of our School Council went to the Cambium development and worked hard, planting a variety of plants to brighten up the outside of the development. Keep an eye out for the flower bed as you pass!
Assembly with Queen Elizabeth Foundation and Greenmead
The theme for this year’s anti-bullying week is ‘all different, all equal’ so it was a pleasure to have an assembly presentation by the Queen Elizabeth Foundation today. The QEF funds mobility chairs for very young children, and adapts toys for disabled children. We had a great morning learning about the myths surrounding disability and our spirits were lifted by the visiting Greenmead makaton choir, performing ‘Tomorrow’ from the musical Annie.
Harvest festival assembly 2017
We had an assembly to celebrate the Harvest Festival, where Ben from Holy Trinity Church told us about the Harvest Festival, and we also found out about the Food Bank.
Countryfile Ramble 2017
We had a great time on Wimbledon Common and raised money for Children in Need.
The wolf blowing the house down - Science lesson
Year 2 tested materials to test for suitability for building houses for model pigs. Then the 'Big Bad Wolf' tried to blow them down to see which material was best.
Macmillan coffee morning
We bought lots of delicious cakes at our Parent Time to raise money for Macmillan.
Reading Breakfast 26th May
We had a reading breakfast on 26th May in the playground. Lots of families attended and enjoyed sharing a book over breakfast.

Year 2 have been doing a drama workshop with Year 9 students from Putney High based around African stories.
Year 2 trip to Holly Lodge
Year 2 went on a trip to Holly Lodge in Richmond Park where they looked at minibeasts, the things we all need for survival and building habitats for animals.
Panathlon - February 2017
Here are our amazing gold-medal winning Panathletes, victorious at the south-west London semi-finals of the Panathalon Challenge 2017. They will now be representing Ronald Ross in the London finals in April at the Olympic Park!
The Wandle Trust came to our assembly to talk about the history of our local river, the Wandle, and climate change.

New School Building

Student Council visits the new school site
Our student council representatives visited the construction site where our new school will be built. They were able to meet the project manager Barry and ask questions about the building work.
Author Paul Geraghty
We were visited by Paul Geraghty who is an author and illustrator of children's picture books and novels, including Slobcat, Solo, The Hunter, The Hoppameleon, Monty's Journey and Look out, Patrick. Here are some of the pictures from his visit. The children were able to purchase signed copies of his books!
Millers Ark Animals
Early years and Key stage 1 were visited by Miller's Ark Animals. It was lovely to meet all the animals which included a Donkey and her foal. Other animals included a sheep, lambs, rabbits, hens and Guinea pigs.
Kings College Jazz Troupe
We were delighted to have Kings college Jazz band visit our school and perform at our assembly
HEYDAY film workshop
Our students have been taking part in a film course project. During the weekly workshops Ronald Ross pupils are involved in all aspects of film making from directing, acting, writing and editing.

Victorian Day at Ronald Ross Primary School
On July 1st we held a Victorian Tea party. All classes researched, designed and prepared foods suitable for a Victorian picnic and the children also designed and created decorative tableware to serve their food to present for a Masterchef style competition. The delicious dishes included Kedgeree, Lemon Iced Tea and Victoria sponge cake. The children also presented their research which included looking at using sustainable foods. Afterwards the children were able to enjoy tasting the delights of their dishes and play Victorian playground games. Congratulations to our competition winners Year 4!
